This Fajão Schist Trail starts and finishes on the village church square. The route takes you to the classified nature reserve of the Serra do Açor. The path goes around one of the valley slopes car- ved by the Ceira river, and then climbs to the top of the cliffs of Penalva. Here you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery. The final section of the route drops to the village of Fajão, which appears amongst the crags of the rugged mountains. There is an alternative route (optional shortcut way marked PR1.1) which shortens the walk in one third of its length.
