In a linear course with a medium degree of difficulty and approximately 66 km, the Grand Route offers a 1.613 mts slope, in a course of mixed terrain, dominated by dirt roads and tracks. Beginning at the Doca dos Pescadores (Setúbal) and ending at Praia da Foz (Sesimbra), the route allows visitors to visit places such as the Fortaleza of São Filipe, Estrada Romana (Casal das Figueiras, Setúbal), Alto da Vigia, Vila de Palmela, Serra da Arrábida, Vila de Sesimbra, Cabo Espichel or the Lagoa de Albufeira.
